“ When one is ready to learn…the teacher will be there”

In my 63 years I have experienced many concepts in education, as well as being subjected to how it was put forth. If I were to grade my teachers, many would fail, and quite a few would need some summer classes because they were falling short in doing their job as teachers. Lecturing is easy, teaching is difficult.

It is interesting to me, that those wonderful teachers who grabbed my attention, and made it possible for me to learn all had one thing in common.  They presented the subject in a practical way, they kept me interested, the material was sound, and most of all, I FELT THEY CARED about me, or so it seemed.

Unfortunately there are still many of those poor teachers around today, and some are teaching equine massage.

It has been brought to my attention, there are some who are teaching schools, whom them selves have not made it successfully in the world of hands on, or practical experience, more commonly referred to as the real world. This is one explanation why so many students become failures in the massage world; another might be because not every person is able to run a business of their own. I do my best to insure a student’s success.

Rather than point the finger toward any one in particular, I chose to create a school that went beyond the others in subject matters, quantity and quality of teaching. My program is not  conventional.

Years ago when I opened the doors of my school, I realized I was the pioneer of the ONLY equine massage school, that put as much importance on the person as it did the horse. I felt it was very important that my students lived at the ranch during their education, enjoying the ranch experience.

This concept is important, because surroundings have a very important influence on ones growth, and ultimate achievements.

As a result of this approach to education, my program has changed the lives of many of my students for the better, as well as the horses they worked on, and continue to work on.

From time to time parents will contact me, just to thank me for putting meaning in their children’s lives, and giving them a dream to go after. That is why I present it the way I do, as it has a profound impact on lives. I wish to be one of those teachers who cares,  teaches and inspires, not one who only presents knowledge.

There is one other school following my concept, they were students of mine, this is where they learned that approach to education, and that makes me happy, realizing they see the value of such a program. After all, they could have compromised, as it easy to send students to a motel somewhere, and out of your hair, not involving them in your life. It takes work-building relationships, and getting to know who a person is, and what makes them tick. It is work being a servant. It is different when one teaches.

NO INSTANT PROPOGANDA HERE!

Sadly, I would have to say, that less than 15% of those who try to create a business in massage actually do make it. As for the other 85% THEY WERE NOT TAUGHT HOW TO BE SUCCESSFUL, because they were not taught the laws of success. The school content was more frosting, than cake. I prefer to call it fluff, and not substance.

There is so much more to being successful than massaging a horse. Massage is actually the easiest subject to teach, as well as learn.  I know there are those who will want you to believe differently, BUT THEY ARE WRONG!!!

Touch is an innate quality in ALL humans, as well as ALL animals, we are simply teaching a technique of touching, which came from a person who had a creative side to them, and touched in a more structured way.

All you need to do is look at the two very important letters about a horse named Billy and you will see what I am talking about. (click here )

SO,WHAT IS THE PROBLEM?

Schools today are simply KNOWLEDGE FACRORIES, leaving the person out of the picture.

Each of my subjects taught in school has gone through a lot of examination in the past thirteen years, to determine if it was really necessary to be included in my program. I needed to have material that was important to the needs of the horse.

Much of my determining came from not simply being in the business, rather, being in the business successfully, and APPLYING each, and every one of these subjects, and principles in my own business, as well as my life. The bottom line, REAULTS

A VALUABLE LEARNING TOOL

As I think back to my child hood, one of the greatest learning tools offered to me was to sit around a campfire, or on the front porch, and especially the dining table, and simply listening to people talk. This used to be how children learned before TV, and mindless entertainment came along, it is how my brothers and I learned.

Think of it, REAL life stories from our parents and their friends, the real teachers, of how to SUCCED IN LIFE, and teaching us young people what pit falls not to get caught in. All we needed was to listen to those great stories of REAL LIFE EXPERIENCES.

Oh yes, I remember those other stories too, you know, the ones about how far our parents had to walk to school, in the snow, 150 degree temperatures, and up hill in both directions while pulling a plow behind them. No wonder I thought my parents were awesome. I really appreciate them as I look back to those fond memories, and I wish I could hear those wonderful stores, again, and again.

Sadly, I have experienced the regret of not getting to know my father better. I left home when I was nineteen and was busy going after dreams. There have been situations in which I could have used my father’s wisdom, as well as my mothers. I needed more of those stories as a man, not only as the child. This would one day become one of my biggest regrets, seeing my father only with a child’s eyes, and not those of a man.

I try to keep those values in my school, where all of the students, and my self spend valuable time, sharing life’s stories with each other, as a way to achieving our success in the field of equine massage, as well as life.

I look forward to sharing YOUR experiences, and stories, with the students of my future schools.

With that all said, as you click my course outline page, you will find this to be a very complete program, I feel it is so complete, it should be the standard of learning, perhaps one day it will be. But until then, you can at least find it here at Geary Whiting’s Equine Massage School for Horse and Human.

Too Your Success
