Who's Geary Whiting

I received an email the other day that started me to thinking. What came to my mind was not what this person was saying, rather my perceived disrespect in the tone of her email. I answered her, and thought I would share my answer to her with you. This addition to who is Geary may be of value to those who could be of the same mind set as this young lady. This additional “My Thoughts” is meant to give you my personal feelings on the subject of CREDABILITY, as well as give a better understanding of the foundational emphases of my school. I hope you enjoy… my thoughts.

Hi Geary,

I have contacted you before and I just have to ask, you do not choose to mention where you got your certification, therefore how am I supposed to know that you are 'certified.' When I start my business, and clients ask me what qualifies me to massage, how can I answer that appropriately if I do not 'know' what qualifies me. It just seems suspicious to me that you will not mention where you got certified. If you feel that it is that 'bad' of a school, wouldn't you tell your students so they wouldn't pursue it?

Also, am I qualified to join the IEBWA with your course? Anyway, those are all concerns I have about the school. I'll be looking forward to hearing from you!

I think this young lady meant well, although what she said came across to me as a little disrespectful. I may have been having a bad day, and did not perceive what she was saying correctly. Basically here was my answer to this young lady.

MY ANSWERS

Who taught the first person who started teaching massage? Would you expect Jack LaLane to have to become certified in order to show any one he knew what he was doing as a personal trainer?

How about Paul Bragg who wrote 21 booklets on health, and nutrition who died at 94 while surfing, who I also believe was Jacks mentor. Should he have been required to take a certification program in nutrition to show he understood proper eating principles?

My point is this, paper means nothing, rather ones ACCOMPLISHMENTS are the qualifier. You will know if you are qualified when you are getting good results, and so will your clients. That is what people are looking for, not who you learned from. However, because of my accomplishments in the equine massage field, people do respect the students who graduates from my program, because they the student get results. I will direct you to the “Billy letters” on my web site to support this.

As far as being accepted by the IEBWA, I am not sure I know whom you are referring. If you are talking about the International Equine Body Workers Association, THEY contacted me a couple of years ago informing me I met all of their requirements and they would like my school in their association. When I asked them some questions they did not call me back. Here are the questions I asked them.
